Driving License Service
Here are the services specific for driving licence.
Apply for a Learner’s License (LL)
You can apply for a learner’s license online through Parivahan Sewa. This license lets you practice driving before getting a permanent license. You need to pass a simple online test on traffic rules.
Apply for a Permanent Driving Licence (DL)
After 30 days of getting your learner’s license, you can apply for a permanent driving license. This license allows you to drive legally on Indian roads.
Renew a Driving License

Parivahan Sewa is a government platform that offers online transport services to Indian citizens. It follows the Central Motor Vehicle Rules to ensure all services are legal and safe. Eligibility Criteria
- Age Limit for Learner’s License
You must be at least 16 years old to apply for a two-wheeler (without gear) and 18 years old for other vehicles. - Age Limit for Commercial License
You must be at least 20 years old to apply for a commercial driving license. - Valid Documents
You must have proof of age, proof of address, and passport-size photos. - Medical Certificate
A medical certificate (Form 1A) is required if you are above 40 years or applying for a commercial license.
How to Apply for a Driving Licence?
Follow these easy steps to apply online:
✅ Step 1: Visit the Official Website
Go to sarathi.parivahan.gov.in.
✅ Step 2: Select Your State
On the homepage, choose your state from the dropdown list. It will take you to the services page of your state RTO.
✅ Step 3: Click on “Apply for Learner Licence” or “Driving Licence”
If you are a new applicant, click on “Apply for Learner Licence”.
If you already have a learner’s licence and want a permanent one, click on “Apply for Driving Licence”.
✅ Step 4: Fill the Application Form
Enter your details like name, age, address, and mobile number. Upload scanned documents such as:
- Proof of age (Birth Certificate, Aadhar, etc.)
- Proof of address (Electricity bill, Passport, etc.)
- Passport-size photo and signature
- Medical certificate (Form 1A) if required
✅ Step 5: Upload Documents and Pay Fees
Upload all documents in the required format. Pay the application fee using a debit card, credit card, UPI, or net banking.
✅ Step 6: Book a Slot for Learner Test or Driving Test
Choose a convenient date and time for your test. You will need to visit the RTO on this date.
✅ Step 7: Appear for the Test
For a learner’s licence, take the online test on road signs and traffic rules.
For a permanent licence, take the driving test in front of an RTO officer.
✅ Step 8: Download Acknowledgement
After completing the steps, download and save the application acknowledgement. You can also print your learner licence if you pass.

You can check the status anytime by clicking on “Application Status” on the website and entering your application number and date of birth.
