Getting a driver’s or learner’s license in India is easy through the Parivahan Sewa portal. This online system helps you apply, book tests, and check the status of your license. How to Apply for Driving License Registration?

Applying for a driving license in India is easy through the official Parivahan Sewa portal. Follow these steps to complete your registration online:

Step 1: Visit the Official Website

Go to https://parivahan.gov.in. On the homepage, click on the “Driving License Related Services” link.

Step 2: Select Your State

Choose your state from the list. This will open the transport department page of your selected state.

Step 3: Choose the License Option

Click on “Apply for Driving License.” You must have a valid learner’s license before applying for a permanent driving license.

Step 4: Fill the Application Form

Enter all required details. These include your name, date of birth, address, learner’s license number, and vehicle class.

Step 5: Upload Documents

Upload scanned copies of your age proof, address proof, learner’s license, and passport-size photo.

Step 6: Book a Slot for the Driving Test

Choose a date and time for your driving test at the nearest RTO.

Step 7: Pay the Fee

Pay the registration fee online through net banking, UPI, or a credit/debit card.

Step 8: Visit the RTO

Go to the RTO on your test day with original documents. Take the driving test.

Step 9: Get the License

If you pass the test, the RTO will approve your application. You will receive your driving license by post or can download it from the portal.

How to Download Driver’s License?

Step 1: Go to the Website

Visit https://parivahan.gov.in. Click on “Driving License Related Services.”

Step 2: Select Your State

Choose your state from the drop-down list. This will open the transport portal of your state.

Step 3: Click on “Print Driving License”

Find the option that says “Print Driving License” or “Download Driving License.” Click on it.

Step 4: Enter Your Details

Enter your application number and date of birth. Sometimes, you may also need your learner’s license number.

Step 5: Download the License

After entering the correct details, click on the “Submit” button. Your digital driving license will appear on the screen. You can download or print it.

How to Renew Your Driving License Online?

You can renew your driving license online through the Parivahan Sewa website. This method is fast and does not require many visits to the RTO. Follow the steps below:

Step 1: Open the Parivahan Website

Go to https://parivahan.gov.in. Click on “Driving License Related Services.” Then, choose your state.

Step 2: Select Renewal Option

Click on “Apply for DL Renewal.” Enter your driving license number and date of birth. Click “Proceed” to move forward.

Step 3: Fill the Online Form

Enter your details in the form. Check all information before moving to the next step.

Step 4: Upload Documents

Upload a scanned copy of your old driving license, age proof, and address proof. If you are above 40 or have a commercial license, you also need to upload a medical certificate (Form 1A).

Step 5: Pay the Fee

Pay the renewal fee online. You can use a debit card, credit card, net banking, or UPI. The fee is usually between ₹200 and ₹300.

Step 6: Download the Receipt

After payment, download the application receipt. Keep it safe. It will help you track your application.

Step 7: Wait for Approval

In many cases, you do not need to visit the RTO. If required, the portal will inform you. Once your application is approved, your new license will be sent by post.

Step 8: Get the License

You can also download your renewed license from DigiLocker or the Parivahan portal.
